Camel spearman are a versilte cavalry unit, that excels in many different areas. My Camel spearman disrupt enemy range units and chases down routers. I use them to protect against any flanking units, and then to wrap around and support the swordsman in flanking and routing the enemy infantry.
I like to keep my elephants on the flanks. They are the initial hammer to my pikes anvil. My thorax swordsman are split into two groups of 3, which act as my mobile striking force. My archers are behind the pikes, ready to shoot fire arrows over the pikes and into weak spots in the enemy lines. My pikes are front and center, ready to absorb the initial charge. If not, then I aim for any cavalry, elephants, or elite units the enemy may have. If they have artillery then they are my main target. My goal is to use my ballista to damage any capablity for the enemy to flank or get cheap kills.
The ballista force the enemy to attack your position, and use exploisive ammo for a higher moral penalty. This army is about forcing the enemy to charge into your center, and crushing their moral through charges and other moral shocks. My favorite egyptian army comp is: 1 cav general, 2 camel spearman, 2 elephants, 4 thorax pikes, 6 thorax swords, 2 nubian archers, 3 ballista. Think we missed one?
